Hogan Lovells has raised its bonuses for all fee-earners bar partners in its U.K. offices, which could see senior associates and counsels at the firm take home over £200,000 in total compensation.

The maximum bonus that the two groups will now be able to access is 50% of their base salaries – an uplift of 10%.

The firm has also increased the maximum bonus its associates, knowledge lawyers and legal staff can take home, from 30% to 35% of base salaries.

The changes, which will affect bonus pay-outs from 2021, mean newly qualified solicitors at the firm could take home £121,500 on an annualised basis.

Susan Bright, the firm's regional managing partner for U.K. and Africa, said in a statement to Law.com International: "Hogan Lovells provides a reward package for our lawyers consistent with us being a leading global law firm operating in the UK. We recognise and reward our lawyers who contribute to the firm's success and embrace our firm's culture and values in being ambitious, innovative, supportive, committed and responsible.

"We operate a total compensation reward model which comprises base salary and bonus, as well as other benefits. The increase in our maximum bonus ensures that we have even greater flexibility to reward our highest performers and recognise the range of valuable contributions made."

Last year, the firm boosted the base salaries for its newly-qualified (NQ) lawyers to £90,000 a year in London, in a bid to compete in a pay war triggered by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to retain young talent.

This month, two years after the firm first cracked the $2 billion threshold, Hogan Lovells announced continued revenues and profits increase in 2019.

The firm's total global revenue grew 6 percent to $2.25 billion, while profits per equity partner climbed 9.1 percent to $1.51 million in 2019.
