Hogan Lovells has lured a member of Milbank's Latin America capital markets team with a partner position in New York.

Ben Garcia worked on project finance, debt offerings and other capital markets transactions at Milbank, where he was special counsel. He has advised financial institutions, investment banks, private equity sponsors and corporate issuers in domestic and cross-border offerings of debt and equity securities. He also has also advised multinational companies on a wide range of infrastructure-related projects.

Matthew Cottis, global head of Hogan Lovells' finance practice, described Garcia as "a great fit" for the practice, saying he "adds significant strength to our bench, particularly with regard to project bond work in Latin America."

In Latin America, Garcia has represented major sponsors and investment banks in project financings in the oil and gas, transportation and renewables sectors in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. He also has experience with sovereign offerings, by the Dominican Republic and Guatemala, and in advising on mergers and acquisitions transactions, commercial finance and leveraged buyouts.

Garcia's arrival follows several high-profile additions to the New York office. Last year, the firm attracted leading sports transactions lawyer Michael Kuh, while also luring Peter Marta, former global head of the legal cybersecurity team at JPMorgan Chase.
