Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has signed a new lease for ten floors of a new-build development in Frankfurt.

The development, named FOUR, is still under construction and is slated for completion in 2025, the firm said in a statement.

The firm's new space will be situated in the tallest – 233 meters – of four skyscrapers, and will cover around 14,500 square meters of space, according to a spokesperson – slightly more than the firm's current space at Bockenheimer Anlage, close to the city's opera house, Alte Oper.

FOUR is being constructed on a site formerly occupied by Deutsche Bank, located between the city center and the financial district.

In a statement, Christoph Gleske, the firm's head of the Frankfurt office, said that, by renting the premises, the firm has "secured a highly attractive working environment" for its nearly 600 employees.

Gleske highlighted that Frankfurt "will continue to gain in importance as a financial centre and centre for legal advice on commercial law in Germany".

He added: "We will be even more centrally located for our domestic and international clients and their business partners; and we will be working in one of the most modern and environmentally advanced buildings in Frankfurt."

Frankfurt is the Magic Circle firm's second largest base after London, where it is preparing to leave its current Fleet Street premises this year to move into its new Bishopsgate headquarters.

Meanwhile, Linklaters, Taylor Wessing, DAC Beachcroft and Osborne Clarke have all announced office moves both regionally or internationally.
