Another Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner has left the firm following an internal investigation.

London-based Tom Snelling, a disputes partner of 10 years, left the firm last Thursday (19 March) after an internal investigation. According to one person with knowledge of the situation, the investigation related to an alleged incident of misconduct.

A spokesperson for the firm told Law.com International's Legal Week in a statement: "We can confirm that following the conclusion of an internal investigation, it has been agreed with Tom Snelling that it's in the interests of both him and the firm that he leave the partnership. His last day was 19 March."

Snelling was promoted to the Magic Circle firm's partnership in 2010. He has been involved in much of the firm's Brexit advice and strategy work, and has led on challenges to EU legislation and judicial review proceedings.

It is the latest alleged conduct issue to arise in the Magic Circle firm's partnership. Restructuring and insolvency partner Ryan Beckwith quit the firm last year after he was prosecuted by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a junior colleague without her consent. In October the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal fined him £35,000 with costs of £200,000, but stopped short of banning him from the profession.

In December, Legal Week revealed that white collar partner Nicholas Williams had also left the firm following what people close to the matter called a "MeToo-related" internal investigation.

The firm last year voted in a new conduct committee and protocol, whereby partners could incur automatic fines of up to 20% of their profit share for bad behaviour.

Snelling did not respond to requests for comment.
