Squire Patton Boggs, which has been expanding in Australia over the past year, has hired corporate partners Simon Adams and Caroline Brown from London-based HFW.

The pair will be based in the firm's Perth office.

Adams is a corporate and commercial lawyer with extensive experience in energy, resources and competition law, Squire Patton Boggs said in a statement. He specializes in advising on all aspects of the power and gas industries, including regulated markets and network and pipeline infrastructure.

Brown practices in energy, competition and regulatory law and disputes and has "broad commercial litigation experience," the firm said.

"Simon and Caroline's appointments signal the firm's intention to play a leading role in this sector. Their expertise and capability is essential in order to meet our clients' growing needs," Tony Chong, Perth managing partner, said in a statement.

"This approach echoes our global strategy of making smart, strategic hires of talented people who will add further depth to our outstanding global energy practice."

Squire Patton Boggs has added seven new partners in Australia over the past year.

A spokesperson for HFW said, "We wish them well and thank them for their time at HFW."
