Reed Smith has hired Hogan Lovells French debt capital markets head, Baptiste Gelpi, in the latest partner move in Paris.

Gelpi joins the firm after 20 years at Hogan Lovells.

"Baptiste's arrival marks a significant step in the growth of our European finance practice," Ed Estrada, global chair of Reed Smith's financial industry group, said in a statement. "In particular, his arrival will strengthen our French and wider pan-European structured finance, debt capital markets and French law financial services regulatory practices."

Gelpi's arrival brings to eight the number of new partners that have joined Reed Smith in Europe and the Middle East since the beginning of the year, according to the firm.

Earlier in April the firm expanded its Paris base with the hire of Caroline Ledoux, an M&A and restructuring specialist from K&L Gates.

More widely in Europe, the firm opened a new office in Brussels in January with five competition, regulatory and trade partners and one counsel and two associates from rival firms.

Reed Smith also hired Deutsche Bank's managing director of legal, corporate and investment banking, Joe Kohler, for its London office in the same month.
