Allen & Overy has refreshed its global banking and corporate leadership teams, with two new faces joining the line-up.
The Magic Circle firm has appointed Hong Kong managing partner Vicki Liu as co-head of its banking practice, alongside current co-head Philip Bowden.
Liu is also currently the firm's Asia-Pacific banking head and has been at the firm since 1994 when she joined as a trainee. She was appointed Hong Kong head in 2012 and ran for the global managing partner role at the firm earlier this year. She will remain in the role of Hong Kong managing partner.
She replaces Andrew Thomas in the banking co-head role, who is stepping down after a four-year term in the position.
London based corporate partner David Broadley has been appointed co-head of the firm's global corporate practice, alongside current co-head Dirk Meeus who has been appointed for a second term. Meeus will remain in his role as Belgium managing partner.
Broadley succeeds Richard Browne in the position, who has been in the role since 2016.
All positions are effective from May and follow internal consultations and a confirmatory vote by the relevant practice group, according to a statement by the firm.
A&O senior partner Wim Dejonghe said in a statement: "As we move forward in these challenging times for us and our clients, strong and thoughtful leadership is needed more than ever. We're very pleased to announce these appointments, which bring together a wealth of experience, to lead our banking and corporate practices for the coming four years. I have no doubt that they will build on the significant success their practices have seen and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew and Richard for their hard work in their time as co-heads."
Dejonghe was re-appointed senior partner earlier this year, winning out over Bowden who challenged him for the position. London projects partner Gareth Price was voted in as global managing partner at the firm.
