Australia-based litigation funder Litigation Capital Management has hired disputes practitioner and third-party finance expert James Foster from another litigation funder to be an investment manager based in London.

Foster, who joins from funder Augusta Ventures, where he was head of arbitration, has more than 25 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution in the building and construction sector and has been involved in some of the world's most challenging construction projects in major commercial hubs such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, LCM said in a statement.

Before transitioning to litigation finance, Foster was a partner of the international law firm Gowling WLG.

"James has a formidable reputation in the market and having known him for several years, I am delighted to welcome him at such an exciting time of expansion for LCM, which includes our recent close of a new $150 million third-party fund," executive vice chairman Nick Rowles-Davies said in a statement.

The hire follows the appointment last week of Mary Gangemi as LCM's new London-based chief financial officer and the announcement that Patrick Moloney is to relocate to London from Sydney later this year.

In a statement, Augusta Ventures said, "We wish James well in his new role."
