CMS has appointed 41 lawyers to the partnership in its smallest global promotions round since the firm combined with Olswang and Nabarro in 2017.
The firm's London office accounted for the largest number of promotions – 18 in total – making it the most U.K.-dominated round to date. However, no promotions were made from any of the firm's regional U.K. offices.
Outside of the U.K, the firm made six partner promotions in Paris, four across Germany, three in Warsaw, two in the firm's Kenya office in Nairobi as well as additional partner promotions in Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Romanie, Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine.
The smaller round follows last year's bumper crop in which 49 lawyers including 21 from the U.K. were promoted to the partnership.
Women accounted for half of the new partner promotions in the UK and over 40% of all new partners globally, up from 32% last year.
In a statement, CMS senior partner Penelope Warne commented: "We are also delighted by the strong representation of women joining as new partners and are very committed to investing in all our people and empowering all of them to reach their full potential."
