Reed Smith has lost its third finance partner in just over a month, this time to the London office of U.S. rival Winston & Strawn.

Monica Barton, an acquisition and leveraged finance specialist in the firm's financial advisory practice, is set to leave the firm imminently according to a spokesperson at Reed Smith.

She joins recent departees Ranajoy Basu and James Fisher, who departed for U.S. rivals McDermott Will & Emery and Alston & Bird respectively in the past six weeks.

According to filings listed on Companies House, Barton has been appointed to the partnership of the London practice of Winston & Strawn, making her the firm's first U.K. lateral hire of 2020.

Barton originally joined Reed Smith in 2014 as a counsel from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where she had been a senior associate for four years. She was subsequently promoted to the firm's partnership in 2016.

Barton also previously worked as an associate at Linklaters, according to her LinkedIn profile.

A Reed Smith spokesperson said: "I can confirm that Monica Barton will be leaving the firm. We thank her for her contributions and wish her well for the future."

Winston & Strawn did not respond to requests for comment.
