A Brussels-based Clifford Chance partner has died aged 50 of cancer.

Tony Reeves, a CC lifer who had been at the firm for 27 years, was an antitrust partner and had been head of the firm's European competition and regulatory group. He passed away in April.

A spokesperson for Clifford Chance said in a statement:"Tony was passionately committed to the development and success of his team, our global antitrust practice and the firm.

"He deserved a far longer life, but we remember all the goodness he brought to the world and the joy he found in living. He is dearly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, his friends and close colleagues."

Reeves joined Clifford Chance in 1993 before transferring to the CC Brussels practice two years later.

He was promoted to partner in 2003, and five years later became the head of the European competition and regulation group in Brussels.

Reeves advised a roster of blue-chips clients across his career including Citigroup, Pfizer and General Electric, according to his CC profile.

Elsewhere, Reeves also acted as a non-governmental adviser to the International Competition Network and more recently was a member of CC's Brexit Hub, which seeks to advise businesses across all sectors and regions on the implications of the UK's vote to leave the EU.
