Eversheds Sutherland has promoted 38 of its lawyers to partner across its non-U.S. business international and Europe offices, in its largest round since its 2017 merger.
The bulk of the round have been promoted in the firm's U.K. offices, with 22 new partners added across bases including London, Nottingham, Cardiff and Manchester.
The firm's European bases have added nine new partners, while in Johannesburg and Durban the firm has promoted six lawyers to partner. One lawyer has been made up in Hong Kong.
The bulk of the promotions have been made in the firm's company commercial practice group, with another nine lawyers being made up in litigation and disputes.
Women make up 47% of the cohort, which the firm said is in line with its aim to achieve 30% female representation at partner level by 2021. Two of the firm's new U.K. partners are minority ethnic. The firm rolled out diversity targets last year.
Lee Ranson, CEO of Eversheds Sutherland's international arm said in a statement: "We are currently operating in a uniquely challenging global environment, but I know that our 2020 cohort will continue to deliver excellence in client service as they take this significant step in their careers."
Earlier this month, Eversheds joined the ranks of firms to have implemented new measures to protect its business from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The international arm of the firm said that it will delay the review of remuneration and bonus payments and has placed 39 of its staff on furlough.
