Allen & Overy has made up 29 lawyers to partner in its 2020 global promotions round.
By office, the firm's London base has seen the most new partners appointed, with 10 added.
The new London partners are: banking lawyers Dominic von Wulffen, Jane Glancy, Joydeep Choudhuri, Peter Mailer and Paul Sampson; corporate lawyers Alex Tilley and Claire Coppel; ICM lawyer Iona Misheva; litigation lawyer Sarah Hitchins and real estate lawyer Emma Willoughby.
The firm's banking and corporate practices globally saw the most new partners added, with nine bolstering the ranks.
13 of the new appointments are women, marking 45% of the total round. The firm has made repeated attempts to improve the gender diversity of its partnership cohort in recent years, including setting a target that by 2021, 30% of partner candidates must be female. The firm is working towards a 30% target for the partnership in the longer term.
Three new partners have been added in the firm's New York and Dubai offices respectively, while its Prague, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Istanbul offices all made up one lawyer apiece. Three lawyers were made up in Paris.
Lawyers were also made up in the firm's Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo offices.
The firm is the latest elite player to announce its promotion round. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer promoted 21 lawyers to partner on Monday, while Linklaters made up its biggest set in London since 2007, earlier in April.
Global managing partner Andrew Ballheimer said in a statement: "In these difficult times it's heartening to share this positive news. This group demonstrates the breadth of expertise we have globally at A&O and, importantly, shows that our focus on female progression in recent years is having a positive impact."
