DLA Piper has added a tax disputes specialist from PwC and a litigation lawyer from Australian firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth to its Australian partnership.

Tax disputes partner Paul McNab joins the firm's Sydney office from PwC's tax controversy and dispute resolution group, where he has been a partner for over 20 years.

He has more than 30 years' experience in tax dispute resolution, particularly tax litigation, and has advised a range of international and Australian public and private companies, including a number of U.S. clients with significant operations in Australia. He also worked at the Australian Taxation Office for eight years.

"We have a market-leading tax offering, and Paul's reputation in the Australian market represents a significant step in the further development of our tax litigation capabilities—particularly with important technical developments in Australia, and a constantly changing international tax environment," DLA Piper's head of tax in Australia, Jock McCormack, said in a statement.

John Fogarty joins from Corrs Chambers, where he was a senior associate in the commercial litigation and class actions groups. His practice has focused on Australian consumer law enforcement, and he has particular experience in consumer investigations, class actions, Royal Commissions and other commissions of inquiry, DLA Piper said.

"The versatility of John's skill set and his broad commercial litigation experience will bolster our already strong mergers clearance and competition enforcement practice, and enable us to take advantage of a number of new opportunities in the market," said DLA Piper's head of litigation and regulatory Australia, Cameron Maclean.

Fogarty will be based in Melbourne.

Both lawyers join the firm next month.

PwC and Corrs Chambers both declined to comment.
