London-headquartered software multinational Improbable Worlds has appointed a new general counsel, the company has announced.

Aaron Kornblum joins the technology company from Bungie, an independent video games company which created the Halo and Destiny gaming franchises, where he served as GC since 2018.

He will lead Improbable's legal team, and will report to and advise the company's chief executive officer, Herman Narula.

Before his time at Bungie, Kornblum spent 14 years at Microsoft, where he held legal and security engineering leadership roles for Xbox and Windows. He also led Microsoft's internet safety enforcement team, pursuing global cybercriminals.

He also previously spent three years as a senior associate at Graham & Dunn PC's Seattle office, and five years in the United States Air Force serving as a military prosecutor and trial defense counsel at bases across the world.

Improbable lost its former chief legal officer, Rob Miller, to food delivery giant Deliveroo in 2018.

Earlier this month, crowd-funding giant Kickstarter named a new GC who joined from Uber Technologies Inc. in the U.S.

Meanwhile, in the U.K., rail operator Abellio U.K. appointed its first-ever GC while location app what3words' general counsel took on an additional, voluntary general counsel position for COVID-19 charity initiative Meals for the NHS.
