Six firms including Linklaters and Herbert Smith Freehills have won spots on a new legal panel unveiled by Anglian Water Group, the water services company that covers much of the East of England.
The new legal framework, which was announced at the start of May, will cover a wide range of sector areas including competition, property, employment and corporate finance.
According to the contract announcement published on the Official Journal of the European Union, the panel has been divided across five lots with each lot receiving over ten tenders.
Other firms to have won places include Pinsent Masons, Addleshaw Goddard, TLT and Shakespeare Martinaeu.
In 2015, Anglian Water appointed Eversheds Sutherland as its principal legal adviser for a period of three years with the option to extend by another two years. Eversheds however is not on the latest line-up.
Linklaters and HSF will both advise Anglian Water on matters relating to competition and procurement, as well as corporate finance and debt, M&A and tax. HSF confirmed that Tim Briggs and Kirsten Roberts will act as the lead partners for the firm.
Pinsent Masons will advise the water company on matters relating to property and planning alongside Shakespeare Martineau. In addition, Pinsents will also advise on corporate finance and miscellaneous matters according to the contract notice.
Gordon McCreath will act as the lead partner for Pinsent Masons, according to the firm.
Addleshaw Goddard and TLT will advise Anglian Water on employment and pensions issues, with Addleshaws also providing miscellaneous advice.
A number of mandates have been awarded by government bodies this year. In February CMS picked up a £3 million contract to advise the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), the independent regulator for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the U.K.
In the same month, Linklaters won a £350,000 contract to provide legal advice to the Crossrail sponsor team over a period of 18 months.
