DLA Piper has continued to rebuild its U.K. restructuring practice, after its ranks were depleted last year, this time hiring a partner from Addleshaw Goddard.

James Davison joins DLA this summer after eight years at Addleshaws, having joined the firm as a managing associate in 2011. He was promoted to partner in 2017.

Davison's hire comes just a month after DLA brought on board another restructuring partner, David Manson, from Paul Hastings.

DLA Piper's U.K. head of restructuring, Robert Russell, said in a statement: "We are investing significantly in strengthening our restructuring team and James' appointment, together with the recent arrival of partner David Manson, supports our active growth agenda and complements our ambitious plan for the practice.

"These hires create an even stronger platform from which to service our clients and will work closely with our existing team to strategically drive the practice forward."

The firm lost several partners from its restructuring team last year, including its then-U.K. restructuring head Amy Jacks and former global restructuring co-head Michael Fiddy to Mayer Brown, and corporate restructuring partner Richard Obank and insolvency partner Colin Ashford to Brown Rudnick.

Notable restructuring mandates for DLA in recent months include its role on the administration processes of U.K. department store Beales and womenswear retailer LK Bennett, as well as the company voluntary agreement (CVA) of restaurant chain Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
