Indian law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas announced that three startups have completed a seven-month mentorship program with the firm's legaltech incubator and are ready to go to the market.

The three—JRTC Intern, which pairs law students with internship opportunities, Leegality, which digitizes and automates document signing and stamping, and LegalMind, an artificial intelligence-powered research tool—were the first batch of startups selected by Prarambh, the firm's Delhi-based legaltech incubator.

"COVID-19 has disrupted the normal functioning of both law firms and our clients. The demand and uptake of technology has accelerated," said Cyril Shroff, managing partner of Cyril Amarchand. "These are redefining the dynamics between all these stakeholders and necessitating the need for across the board implementation of technology."

Rishabh Shroff, a partner who has led Prarambh's mentorship program, said he expects that all their clients and in-house teams will need more legaltech solutions as a result of the coronavirus. "The normal lawyer-client relationship will be disaggregated and digitized and our Prarambh program will help such legal tech solutions emerge," he said.

The three startups started with Prarambh in October and received mentoring from Cyril Amarchand partners and feedback from lawyers on their products. The companies were selected from 51 applications.

Cyril Amarchand launched Prarambh, India's first legaltech incubator, in February 2019. The effort is led by Komal Gupta, a legal services delivery specialist.
