Spotify has hired its new general counsel from WarnerMedia Entertainment.

The music streaming giant has hired New York-based Eve Konstan, who will replace Horacio Gutierrez in the role.

Gutierrez was promoted to head of global affairs and chief legal officer in November 2019.

Konstan's career includes over 20 years at U.S. entertainment group HBO, with four years spent as executive vice president and general counsel and six years as deputy general counsel, according to LinkedIn.

Her most recent role was general counsel at WarnerMedia which she took up in March 2019. She also previously spent time as an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

In a LinkedIn post, Konstan said she was "thrilled to be joining Spotify and this outstanding team".

Gutierrez welcomed Konstan to the role in a LinkedIn post, sharing that "her extensive experience in the media industry and her proven leadership skills will be a great asset to the company".

According to its website, Spotify currently has around 268 million users and 130 million subscribers across 79 markets.
