Latham & Watkins has boosted its U.K. restructuring practice with the hire of a partner from Mayer Brown's London office.

Jessica Walker is set to join Latham after nearly 10 years at Mayer Brown. She made partner at the firm in its 2017 promotion round, having joined the firm in 2010 from Eversheds Sutherland.

She is the latest hire for Latham's London restructuring offering. The firm picked up Sidley Austin restructuring duo Yen Sum and Jennifer Brennan in 2018.

"Jessica's extensive experience in formal insolvency in the U.K. adds tremendous depth to our existing capabilities," said Simon Baskerville, global vice chair of Latham & Watkins restructuring and special situations practice, in a statement.

"Clients are facing an unprecedented array of business and operational challenges right now. Jessica is a highly-regarded and versatile practitioner, with impressive front-line experience advising on major transactions in the U.K. and across Europe," he added.

A spokesperson for Mayer Brown said in a statement: "We can confirm that Jessica Walker will be leaving the firm and we wish her well for the future."

Last year, Mayer Brown hired two restructuring partners from DLA Piper to its London office, including DLA's former global restructuring co-chair and its U.K. restructuring head.

Latham, meanwhile, has made a series of other hires so far this year including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer M&A partner Sam Newhouse and two corporate technology partners from Bird & Bird and Taylor Wessing.
