Restaurant chains are suffering amid the pandemic.

Kirkland & Ellis is advising the owner of several U.K. high street restaurant chains on its collapse, as the dining industry continues to be hit by the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Casual Dining Group – owners of Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas, among others – has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

According to a person close to the situation, Kirkland is advising the group in its latest administration mandate.

The firm recently picked up a role alongside Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on high street department store Debenhams' second restructuring process in a year.

The U.K. retail market continues to suffer during the pandemic.

In March, Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's Limited entered administration, with Ashurst advising.

Meanwhile, homeware brand and fashion chain Laura Ashley and U.K. rent-to-buy company BrightHouse were both earlier victims of the strained retail situation.
