Travers Smith has promoted five of its lawyers to partner in its latest round.

The quintet are spread across the firm's practices, and include three men and two women.

The lawyers to have made the cut include corporate M&A and ECM lawyer Tom Coulter, employment lawyer Alex Fisher, finance lawyer Katie McMenamin, dispute resolution lawyer Polly Richard, and derivatives lawyer Joseph Wren.

Travers managing partner David Patient commented in a statement: "Congratulations to each of our new partners, who I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with for many years.

They are all exceptionally talented lawyers and, whilst we can't celebrate their promotions in quite the same style or way we would normally just at the moment, we hopefully will be able to soon, and I know they will all be significant contributors to the firm's future success."

Last year, the firm made up four lawyers, while in 2018 it promoted eight lawyers as part of a bumper round.

Two other firms — Simmons & Simmons and Ashurst — have postponed their partner promotions round for this year as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown. Simmons said that it expects its promotions round to go ahead in June via video conferencing.
