GSK Hits Pearson For Consumer Healthcare GC Hire
The pharma giant has hired a new GC to lead its healthcare division.

GlaxoSmithKline has hired a new general counsel to lead its consumer healthcare business.
The pharma giant is bringing in the GC and chief legal officer of education publishing company Pearson, Bjarne Philip Tellman, to head up its healthcare arm.
New York-based Tellman has worked at Pearson since 2014, prior to which he had been associate general counsel at Coca Cola. He began his career at White & Case.
The current healthcare GC at GSK, Sean Roberts, said he will continue working on strategic business development transactions at GSK.
"Moving from being a division of a listed company to being a stand alone listed entity brings enormous change," said Roberts. "Bjarne's experience of operating in a listed environment, as well as his many other skills, will be invaluable to the terrific team I have been working with these past years. I look forward to handing over to him and that he encounters every success in his exciting new role," he added.
Tellman will be replaced at Pearson by Cinthia Granzo Nespoli, the company's senior vice president of legal and corporate affairs, who will take on the mantle of chief legal officer.
In 2018, GSK strengthened its consumer healthcare arm via a mammoth deal with rival Pfizer.
The £9.8bn transatlantic joint venture between the pharma giants saw the two public companies combine their consumer health businesses into a joint venture, with anticipated sales expected to be close to £10bn.
A host of top law firms lined up to advise the duo on the deal, including Slaughter and May, Clifford Chance and Kirkland & Ellis.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
