King & Wood Mallesons has reappointed Brisbane partner Berkeley Cox as chief executive partner of Australia for a second three-year term.

Cox will continue to drive greater connectivity between King & Wood Mallesons Australia and the firm's global network and create greater opportunities for cross-border collaboration, the firm said in a statement. He will also focus "on equipping the firm's people for well-being and performance and building supportive teams to enable them to deliver exceptional service to clients."

He will also continue to champion the firm's pro bono program.

Cox has been a partner with Mallesons Stephen Jaques since 2001, having first joined the Australian firm in 1999. Earlier in his career, he practiced with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York.

He was first named Australia chief executive partner in 2017, succeeding Sue Kench, who was appointed the Sino-Australian firm's global managing partner and moved to Hong Kong. Before that, he was the firm's deputy managing partner in Australia and led its banking and projects and real estate practices in the country.

"His commitment to the community in which we live and work has encouraged participation from all levels of the firm, resulting in the program's most successful year to date," the firm said.

The firm—a result of merging Australia's Mallesons Stephen Jaques with China's King & Wood in 2012—had revenues of A$565 million ($364 million) in Australia in the most recent financial year to June 2019. It has 168 partners and 1,035 lawyers in Australia.
