Entries are now open for the Legal Week Dispute Resolution Awards 2020, with several new awards introduced to reflect the testing times the industry currently finds itself in.
The Legal Week Dispute Resolution Awards (formerly Commercial Litigation & Arbitration Awards) will hand out prizes for major new categories, including Chambers of the Year, at this year's ceremony, held on November 2 at The May Fair Hotel in London.
Entrants have until July 31st to apply for the categories, which include the hotly contested areas of Banking Litigation Team of the Year and International Arbitration Team of the Year.
For the first time the awards will feature a Risk and Compliance Advisers of the Year category, to recognise the growing importance of risk and compliance to commercial organisations. Monitoring staff behaviour and ensuring systems abide by the rules has become a key focus following a spate of financial scandals since the financial crisis. The category will be open to risk and compliance teams within institutions as well as in-house legal teams and law firms advising on such issues.
Other new categories for 2020 include In-House Litigation Team of the Year, White Collar Crime Litigation Team of the Year, Best Use of Technology and In-House Litigator of the Year.
Prior to the awards ceremony and also taking place at The May Fair Hotel, Legal Week is holding the Dispute Resolution Forum, which combines the Commercial Litigation & Arbitration and Banking Litigation & Regulation Forums.
Over the past 10 years, the two events have brought together leading legal professionals from in-house, private practice and the Bar to work together and overcome the minefield of challenges faced across dispute resolution.
Given the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19 the two events will be held together for the first time.
The forum will comprise two streams, open to all attendees, with one related to commercial litigation and arbitration matters and one more focused on the challenges faced by financial litigators and regulation professionals. For those who cannot or do not wish to travel, we will be providing a virtual event replicating the content of the in-person event
