Allen & Overy has unveiled the fourth cohort of its flagship legal tech incubator, Fuse, which will run virtually.
Four legal tech firms have joined the incubator this year, including universal risk rating system Orbital Witness and Serein AI, a new legal AI company.
Fuse has extended its remit this year to include fintech companies for the first time. It has taken on a quartet, selected in collaboration with a number of A&O's finance clients, according to the firm.
The four fintech companies include risk assessment programme Saphyre and electronic proxy voting solution Proxymity.
The eight new entrants will join Fuse alumni and current 'residents' Nivaura, REGnosys, Avvoka and Define.
In a statement, Shruti Ajitsaria, partner and head of Fuse, said: "I am very much looking forward to launching the fourth Fuse cohort virtually – it will enable us to connect with our lawyers and clients across our global network seamlessly and efficiently.
"I am also particularly pleased to have a FinTech stream, as nominated by our clients, in the Fuse cohort. I look forward to the many learnings that this will bring to our lawyers."
Other legal tech incubators, such as Slaughter and May's Collaborate programme, have been delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Fuse's legal tech intake this year:
BRYTER – a no-code building platform to automate legal knowledge. Its toolbox enables professionals to build, manage and sell interactive applications, without the need for programming skills.
Serein AI – a new legal AI company that applies artificial intelligence and machine learning to legal documents and processes.
StructureFlow – a cloud-based platform designed to visually model complex legal structures and transactions more easily and effectively than is possible using general drawing tools.
Orbital Witness – a universal risk rating system for property transactions to provide investors, developers and lenders and their professional advisors.
Clara - a legal operating system that digitises and automates startup legal expertise.
Fuse's new fintech intake:
Secretarium – Helps businesses use cryptography, consensus algorithms and specialist hardware to achieve end-to-end encryption and tamper-proofing of data.
Loan Optics – Helps to process primary and secondary loan implementation within the syndicated loan market and drive operational savings.
Saphyre – Helps firms to assess risk faster, speed up risk processes with accuracy and eliminate redundant or inefficient processes in booking, confirmation, and settlement.
Proxymity – Helps provide an electronic proxy voting solution. It also offers a shareholder disclosure platform, which automates shareholder ID requests in industry compliant formats.
