The legal arm of Big Four accounting firm EY has hired a real estate partner in Australia.

Astrid Beemster, who will start at the firm June 24, specializes in real estate transaction advisory work, focusing on office, industrial and retail property. She has particular expertise acting for offshore entrants into the Australian real estate market, EY said.

Beemster was previously a partner with DLA Piper in Sydney.

She has acted for institutional clients, including Australian and offshore property funds, on high-value acquisitions and disposals, complex leasing transactions on both the landlord and tenant side, joint ventures, investment management and property management arrangements, development projects and property due diligence in various Australian jurisdictions.

"We are delighted to welcome a professional of Astrid's caliber to EY's growing law services team, particularly with her strong reputation and credentials in real estate advisory," EY Oceania law leader Kirsty Keating said in a statement.

"There is so much opportunity in real estate both in legal advisory services and also legal managed services."

DLA Piper could not immediately be reached for comment.
