PricewaterhouseCoopers' affiliate Beijing Rui Bai Law Firm has hired a partner from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Barbara Li joins to lead the corporate practice at PwC's legal arm in China. She had been a partner with Norton Rose in Beijing since 2013, specializing in corporate transactions in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. Li advises multinationals and foreign investors on TMT transactions as well as regulatory matters in data protection and cybersecurity in China.

Li joined Norton Rose in 2013 from Baker McKenzie, where she was a Beijing-based partner for seven years. She practiced with Hogan Lovells before that and served as in-house counsel with Swedish telecom company Ericsson in Beijing.

PwC launched Rui Bai in 2015 as the accounting giant sought to bolster legal offerings in China. In 2017, Rui Bai expanded its team after absorbing members of Beijing-based Run Ming Law Firm; former Run Ming partner Wang Yadong took over to lead the practice. Wang retired from the firm last year. Rui Bai is now led by arbitration partner Steve Kou, a former Global Law Office partner and Herbert Smith lawyer.

In addition to Beijing-based Rui Bai, PwC also operates a similar affiliate Chinese law firm Xin Bai in Shanghai. Across the region, PwC's legal arm has launched local law offerings in Hong Kong, Singapore, and mainland China. The firm also offers foreign legal services in Singapore. Globally, PwC's legal offering is led by Sydney partner Tony O'Malley.
