Squire Patton Boggs has hired another five lawyers from HFW in London, including one partner, in a boost to its newly launched shipping and commodities group.

Squire has hired London partner Katie Pritchard, director John Rollason, senior associate Gabriella Martin, and associates Joseph Magoon and Patrick Greaney, to its London office.

They join the firm after former colleagues, ex-HFW international corporate head, Brian Gordon, and fellow HFW partner Chris Swart, made the same move in December 2019 to launch the shipping and commodities group.

Steve Mahon, Squire global managing partner of clients and strategy, said in a statement: "With Chris, Katie and all our new colleagues, we have expanded our commodities and shipping group to a best-in-class team with an enhanced global reach, able to support clients on the full range of commodities, shipping and finance issues.

The hires are the latest of several for Squire in London in the past year, with the U.S.-headquartered firm having brought on board lawyers including Herbert Smith Freehills banking partner Ian Yeo and former Ashurst managing partner and finance partner James Collis in 2019.

In March, Squire again turned to HFW to hire two corporate partners Simon Adams and Caroline Brown in Australia.

The firm had previously seen a number of London exits to U.S. firm Crowell & Moring, including the firm's former London managing partner Robert Weekes.
