Clyde & Co has hired a partner from Holman Fenwick Willan to join its Australian maritime group.

Nic van der Reyden, who is based in Sydney, specializes in shipping and commercial dispute resolution and litigation, acting for shipowners, charterers, mining and logistics companies and P&I clubs (not-for-profit maritime insurers) in relation to a broad cross-section of maritime matters, Clyde & Co said in a statement.

He has extensive experience in international commercial arbitration and mediation and has conducted proceedings in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa, as well as in Australia, the firm said.

"Nic's arrival is a crucial next step in the development of our marine group in Australia, following the recent hire of Ernest van Buuren," Maurice Thompson, the firm's national group head of maritime and commodities, said in a statement. "Nic's broad-based marine practice and strong reputation in the market will bolster our offering to clients and the marine market in Australia and greater APAC."

Clyde & Co has the largest marine practice in the world, with more than 150 lawyers across its global network of over 50 offices, the firm said.

London-headquartered HFW thanked van der Reyden for this time at the firm and wished him luck.
