Dentons has appointed its new Spain managing partner following the departure of Jesús Varela.

Madrid-based Jabier Badiola , who has been a partner at Dentons since 2015, will step up to the role and work closely with Barcelona managing partner Nieves Briz, the firm said in a statement.

Varela and two other partners José Ramón Vizcaíno and Julio Parrilla have left for local Spanish firm Pérez-Llorca.

Varela was appointed as managing partner in 2019 for a three-year term.

In a statement, Dentons CEO Tomasz Dabrowski said: "Jabier has already established a strong track record in building up our successful Banking and Finance practice in Spain.

"I am confident that in collaboration with Nieves, he will provide the leadership we need to further develop and enhance our presence, quality and brand in the Spanish market."
