The legal services arm of KPMG has hired two lawyers from Big Four competitor PwC to launch a new family law and private client practice.

Alice Killingbeck joins KPMG in London after four years as a solicitor at PwC, where she advised high net worth individuals on private wealth matters. She will lead the firm's new family office and private client legal offering. Joining Killingbeck is PwC senior manager, Harriet Kwarteng, who has been at PwC since 2017.

Nick Roome, head of legal Services for KPMG, commented in a statement: "We are delighted to add a family office and private client legal offering to our growing legal services practice, and are really pleased to welcome Alice and Harriet to the team.

"Entering the family office and private client space is another stepping stone in our growth plans as we continue to build highly compelling new legal service offerings that are thoroughly integrated within our wider tax, deal advisory and consulting practices."

KPMG has made a number of hires to its legal arm in recent weeks. On Monday, KPMG Law's Danish business hired a partner from DLA Piper to its Copenhagen office, while last week KPMG Legal announced that it is launching a Luxembourg office with hires from Charles Russell Speechlys.

PwC, meanwhile, has seen several exits across its European operations. In Warsaw, U.K.-headquartered firm Bird & Bird picked up a three-person team from PwC to bolster its investigations unit, while in Germany PwC partners are leaving the accountancy firm following a dispute over strategy.
