The Ince Group has consolidated its Singapore alliance firm, Incisive Law, into the business.

The duo had operated under an alliance since 2011, but will now operate under the Ince banner in the region, according to a statement from Ince.

As part of the move, which was formalised at the start of June, a number of senior lawyers at Incisive Law have joined the Ince partnership including the alliance firm's two managing directors, Bill Ricquier and newly-promoted Wai Yue Loh.

However, the firm's third joint managing partner, Edgar Chin, has joined Norton Rose Fulbright alliance firm, Ascendant Legal, according to an announcement by the firm.

Other appointments to Ince from Incisive include the head of the transactional practice at Incisive, Sung-Hwan Choi and the head of aviation and competition Piyush Gupta who will keep this role at Ince Singapore.

Ince partner and Singapore managing partner Harry Hirst will lead the admiralty practice alongside Incisive Law director Boaz Chan, the firm added.

The consolidation follows a tumultuous 18 months for the Singapore alliance in which a number of senior lawyers left both firms.

Ince's former Singapore managing partner John Simpson and head of finance Martin Brown both left to join Stephenson Harwood in October 2018 and May 2019 respectively, while Ince global terminals and maritime infrastructure practice head Ton van den Bosch moved to Addleshaw Goddard at the start of 2019.

In November 2019, Ince fired its then Singapore managing partner, Devandran Karunakaran, after he was found guilty of molesting three women in a bar in Singapore.

Meanwhile, several Incisive Law directors have moved to local firms in recent months.

In a statement, Ince chief executive Adrian Biles said: "The Ince Group's ambition is to create a bespoke international legal and professional services business that can provide everything our clients need, wherever they are.

"The seamless consolidation of our Singapore office, alongside the hiring and promoting of highly skilled individuals to Singapore and other Asian markets shows a commitment to Singapore and our clients in the region."
