Kennedys has kicked off the U.K. top 50 financial reporting season, posting a global revenue growth of 9% for the 2019/20 financial year.

The firm grew its turnover to £238 million for the year, up from £215.9 million for the previous year. The latest figures come after several years of aggressive turnover growth. In 2018, the firm posted a 31% growth in global revenue.

The majority of this year's revenue came from the firm's U.K. business, which grew by nearly 10% for the year to £139 million.

The firm also increased its overall headcount by 7% to 2150, which included the addition of 20 lateral hires across nine jurisdictions including Australia, Chile, Singapore and the U.K, according to a statement by the firm.

During the last financial year, the firm launched a new technology platform, Kennedys IQ, to provide clients with products to help them manage claims more effectively.

It also appointed its first-ever global managing partner, Suzanne Liversidge, to oversee the strategic and operational management of the firm. Liverbridge became the first female global managing partner at a top 30 firm.

Globally, the firm strengthened its presence in Portugal, merging with boutique law firm N. Maldonado Sousa & Associados.

Earlier in June, the firm also opened an office in San Francisco with a four-partner maritime team from Hinshaw & Culbertson.
