Moscow-based disputes boutique Rybalkin Gortsunyan & Partners has hired a seven-lawyer team to strengthen its position in the European arbitration market, the firm announced in a statement.

The team hire comes as part of a firm-wide restructure that is centred around new joiner and litigator Dmitry Dyakin, the former co-head of litigation and arbitration at Russian firm Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners, according to the firm's website.

Dyakin joins Rybalkin with a team of six professionals, including partner Vladimir Pestrikov.

The practice restructure rejig its litigation and arbitration team by splitting it into two areas: a litigation and investigations practice headed by Ilya Rybalkin, and an arbitration practice headed by Dyakin.

The hires come two years after Ilya Rybalkin and Suren Gortsunyan, a disputes specialist, left the Moscow office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in the wake of U.S. sanctions to start their own boutique.

With 26 lawyers in its litigation and arbitration practice, Rybalkin is one of the largest Russian dispute resolution law firms. According to the firm, over the past 18 months, the firm has represented clients in claims worth in excess of $5 billion.

Rybalkin said in a statement: "In these challenging times, we have managed to dramatically enhance our team with outstanding professionals, and together we will continue to create a unique Russian legal firm and defend our clients in the most complex disputes in Russia and across the world."
