Australian law firm Gilbert + Tobin has hired an investment partner from rival corporate outfit MinterEllison.

Nathan Cahill joins the firm as a corporate advisory partner from MinterEllison, where he spent 17 years, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has over 20 years' experience in the investment industry, with a focus on credit, hedge equity, private equity, venture capital, real estate and other investment product classes.

Cahill is also a director of the Australian Investment Council. He joins Gilbert + Tobin's Sydney office.

"Nathan is known for his commercial acumen, innovation and pragmatic approach and has received numerous industry accolades including for industry innovation," Gilbert + Tobin said in a statement.

"A broad range of clients including major hedge and equity fund managers, financial institutions and large family offices appoint Nathan to advise on business strategy, fundraising, launching new ventures & funds, mitigating risk or making investments."

It is the latest significant hire for Gilbert + Tobin in the past few months. In March, Slaughter and May corporate partner Susannah Macknay left to join the Australian outfit, in a rare departure for the U.K.-based Magic Circle firm.

Macknay had been at Slaughters since 2007 when she joined as an associate. She was promoted to partner seven years later and has acted on a series of major deals during her time at the firm.

MinterEllison did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.
