Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath has hired a team of five restructuring associates from Sidley Austin to its London office following a partner duo hire from the U.S. rival in early June.

The associates joining Faegre Drinker's London team are Wayne Beck, Buvini Kularatne, Raphaela Cotoulas, Katie Crispi and Abigail Taylor.

The quintet will reunite with restructuring partner duo James Conlan and Patrick Corr, who joined Faegre from Sidley at the start of June.

Partner Conlan, who is based across Faegre Drinker's U.S. offices in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago, was a former chairman at Sidley and global leader of its restructuring practice. Corr, meanwhile, was the head of Sidley's European restructuring and insolvency practice.

The latest exits are the latest for Sidley's London and European bases. On Tuesday, two private equity partners, Christian Iwasko and Erik Dahl, left the firm. Both had joined Sidley in 2016 from Kirkland & Ellis as part of a significant team move into its Munich and London bases.

Faegre Drinker was launched in February of this year through the merger between Midwest firm Faegre Baker Daniels and Philadelphia-founded firm Drinker Biddle & Reath, in a move that brought together more than 1,300 legal professionals across the U.S., U.K. and China.

The firm said in a statement that it had made 15 lateral and counsel hires since the beginning of 2020 and added that the coronavirus pandemic "has not slowed its integration efforts or plans for strategic growth".
