Taylor Wessing has hired a partner to join its corporate technology team in Cambridge after its ranks were depleted by several exits in 2019.

Ross McNaughton joins after over four years at Penningtons Manches Cooper where he was a partner. He was previously partner at Paul Hastings for just under six years, a firm statement added.

McNaughton's expertise includes advising high growth companies undertaking corporate moves, including VC investments and spin-outs, public listings and M&A.

His hire comes after Taylor Wessing boosted its ranks with the hire of Fieldfisher partner Alison Dennis, who joined as international co-head of life sciences and healthcare in May.

The two hires follow the exit of a four-partner team led by international corporate co-head David Mardle to Goodwin in June 2019 as well as its head of tax Rob Young later that same month.

In a statement, Taylor Wessing managing partner Shane Gleghorn said: "This hire strengthens our practice acting for cutting-edge businesses in the technology and life sciences space.

"Ross has a strong track-record of transactions in those sectors, and he is a known-quantity because he was running a Silicon Valley office at the same time as we were growing our office there."

A spokeswoman for Penningtons Manches Cooper said: "We thank Ross for his service to the firm and wish him well for the future."
