British Virgin Islands-based Harneys, an offshore law firm with a large Caribbean footprint, has appointed a new managing partner for its Cayman Islands office.

Nick Hoffman is assuming the helm from incumbent Marco Martins, who leaves the firm after eight years in the role.

According to a firm statement, Hoffman joined the firm in 2017 and heads up the firm's litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice.

Firm chairman Peter Tarn said: "Nick is well positioned to deliver our Cayman Islands strategy and we are delighted that he has agreed to take on the position of office managing partner.

"He is recognised by clients as an excellent strategist who is able to handle challenging, fast-moving situations with real skill. We are confident that these attributes will enable him to transition successfully to his new leadership role."

Tarn added: "I would like to thank Marco for his tremendous contribution to the firm over the past 13 years."

In recent years, the firm launched a legal services office in Shanghai.

In July, the firm announced its mid-year promotions, adding seven senior associates and two directors to its ranks.
