Pinsent Masons has hired a pair of transactions partners in Singapore.

Nicholas Hanna and Mark Tan both join from K&L Gates where they were partners specializing in transactions in the fintech and medical technology sectors.

Hanna advises on fund formation and structure as well as capital raising transactions such as cryptocurrency and digital coin offerings. He joined K&L Gates in 2013 from Watson, Farley & Williams where he had been a Singapore-based partner since 2009.

Tan has a similar fintech-focused practice, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures as well as capital markets deals. He joined K&L Gates in 2013 and became a partner in 2018. Before that, he was an associate with Holman Fenwick Willan; earlier in his career, he practiced with legacy Stamford Law Corp. in Singapore.

Andrew Masraf, Pinsent Masons' London-based global transactions head said Hanna and Tan will have a leading role in developing the firm's corporate capabilities in Singapore.

In addition to corporate, Pinsent Masons has built up its Singapore presence in other areas. Last year, the firm named Singapore partner and firm's head of Asia Ian Laing its global head of infrastructure, a key leadership position. Earlier in 2019, Pinsent Masons and its Singaporean joint venture partner firm MPillay moved into a larger new office in a bid to further expand in the city-state.

Meanwhile, K&L Gates has seen a few departures in Singapore so far this year. Apart from Hanna and Tan, former international arbitration partner Glenn Cheng left earlier this year for Kennedys. The U.S. firm combined with local firm Straits Law Practice in 2019.
