DWF has lost its U.K. employment head to Shoosmiths, as the latter continues to build up its Glasgow presence.
Michael McLaughlin is set to join the Glasgow office of Shoosmiths, which opened last year.
For Shoosmiths, the hire marks a continued expansion in the region for the firm, following the hires of Barry Mckeown from Gunnerscooke and Fiona Cameron from Brodies in the past year.
In a statement announcing the hire, McKeown commented: "We've made it clear that we have major ambitions for Glasgow and beyond so we are pleased to welcome such a high-calibre lawyer as Michael to the national employment team, boosting our offering from this location and Scotland generally.
"Glasgow will play a large part in delivering our growth strategy across the UK given the depth and quality of legal talent we have in the city."
McLaughlin himself has been at DWF for over two decades, according to his LinkedIn profile, and acts as the firm's national head of employment from Glasgow.
In a statement, DWF said: "Michael McLaughlin left DWF in July 2020 to pursue other interests. We wish him all best in the future. Joanne Frew has been appointed as DWF's national head of employment."
The change comes at a tumultuous time for DWF, which recently saw its long-time CEO Andrew Leaitherland dramatically depart in May.
The firm has since instigated a number of cuts across the business, closing the Singapore and Brussels offices and trimming its Cologne and Dubai practices.
