U.S. firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle has appointed a London partner from a U.S. rival as the firm looks to build its U.K. disputes practice.

Milo Molfa joins the firm from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he was an associate and counsel for 13 years, according to this LinkedIn profile. He also previously trained at Herbert Smith Freehills.

Molfa  specialises in international arbitration, with a focus on complex, international commercial and investment treaty arbitration as well as transnational litigation matters, according to a statement by Curtis.

Curtis operates in 17 offices across the globe from its headquarters in New York. The firm currently has 14 partners in its London base along with an additional 11 associates and counsels, according to the firm's website.

Partner hires in Curtis' London office are relatively rare, but July has seen a number of usually quiet U.S. firms grow in London.

On Monday, Cahill Gordon & Reindel hired two finance partners from Allen & Overy's London office to boost its own U.K. outpost. Meanwhile, earlier in July, Jones Day made a rare hire in its London office with the addition of Eversheds Sutherland partner James Pickavance.
