Clifford Chance's Singapore-based alliance partner firm Cavenagh Law has recruited a new disputes partner.

Paul Tan will join Cavenagh on Sept. 1 and is currently a partner with Singaporean firm Rajah & Tann where he specializes in international arbitration as well as high stakes court litigation including appellate practice. Tan has also represented multinational companies and governments on investor-state arbitrations.

Tan has been a partner with Rajah & Tann since 2012, having first joined the firm in 2007.

"[Tan]'s hire reflects the commitment Cavenagh Law and Clifford Chance has to the development of our Formal Law Alliance and our practice in Singapore and the region," said Cavenagh managing partner Paul Sandosham.

Cavenagh is a Singapore-based boutique specializing in high stakes litigation and international arbitration; the firm was founded in 2012 by Clifford Chance partner and Asia disputes head Nish Shetty and former WongPartnership partners Harpreet Singh Nehal and Sandosham. The firm then formed a Formal Law Alliance with Clifford Chance which allowed the U.K. firm access to Singaporean law litigation practice, an area of law foreign firms are otherwise barred from practicing. Nehal left Cavenagh last year and formed Audent Chambers.

Currently, Cavenagh has 12 lawyers including four partners.
