Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has led telecommunications giant Vodafone to victory against Indian tax authorities in a €3 billion dispute.

According to people with knowledge of the case, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague ruled in favour of Vodafone on Friday after Indian tax authorities claimed the group should pay almost €3 billion in back taxes and penalties following its 2007 acquisition of Hutchison Essar—at the time India’s second-largest mobile phone network.
