As global law firms face the growing threat of ransomware attacks and other cybersecurity vulnerabilities, the risk is even higher for firms based in Asia Pacific due to slower responses, underprepared clients, and currently lax regulatory regimes.

Globally, law firms are now increasingly the target of cyberattacks. In June 2017, DLA Piper experienced a ransomware attack that locked down hundreds of computers in its network. Thousands of files were encrypted—to be released upon the payment of a modest $300 ransom.
