Hitachi Appoints US Lawyer as First Group Chief Compliance Officer
California-based David Karas takes on the role as compliance comes into focus in Japan.

Japanese conglomerate Hitachi has appointed its first ever group chief compliance officer, as the importance of compliance rises among Japan's corporates.
The company has named David Karas, based in Santa Clara, California, as its global compliance head. Karas was promoted from his previous post as compliance chief at Hitachi Vantara, the group's wholly-owned digital division.
