The death of George Floyd in May resulted in a subsequent reminder to the world of the daily challenges that Black individuals face in all aspects of life, including education and work. I found that going through this experience whilst completing my final exams at law school was exhausting.

Without the support of mentors and my network, an already pressurised studying environment exacerbated by the pandemic, would have become intolerable. I believe that law firms have a crucial role to play in addressing these challenges through opportunities, mentoring and experience for Black students and lawyers.
