Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, Herbert Smith Freehills, Cravath Swaine & Moore and Ashurst are advising on the £7.8 billion acquisition of U.K. utility business Western Power Distribution (WPD) by rival energy company National Grid in a £7.8 billion deal.

Pennsylvania-headquartered PPL Corporation said on Thursday that it has entered into definitive agreements to sell its U.K. utility business WPD, the U.K.'s largest electricity distribution business, to FTSE 100 U.K. business National Grid.
