Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella, the longest-serving justice on the Supreme Court of Canada, will become the first Canadian jurist appointed to a chair at Harvard Law School after she retires later this year.

Abella, who has served on the Supreme Court since 2004, has been appointed Pisar Visiting Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, effective July 1. She will serve an initial three-year term that will run until 2025, Harvard said in a statement.
