Good Law Project, a not-for-profit campaign group founded by U.K. barrister Jolyon Maugham, has issued a pre-action protocol letter to the U.K. government's legal department regarding a contract handed out by the Department for Health and Social Care, which it claims is unlawful.

The group claims that a £102.6 million contract for personal protective equipment (PPE) was awarded to Pharmaceuticals Direct Limited in July 2020 "without any competition" and that the government failed to fulfil its obligations to publish details relating to the contract until March 2021.
